About the position

The IT Business Analyst at HAECO Americas plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Software Development team and the broader organization. This position is responsible for conducting detailed business analysis to identify problems, opportunities, and solutions that align with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). As a Product Owner, the IT Business Analyst focuses on project analysis and execution, ensuring that the value delivered from IT investments is maximized. The role requires a deep understanding of business needs and the impact of proposed solutions on organizational operations. In this position, the IT Business Analyst will act as a champion for system users and stakeholders, guiding them through the software development process from inception to completion. This includes working closely with business stakeholders to document their needs, assessing the feasibility of requests, coordinating with developers on effort estimation, and managing user interactions throughout the development lifecycle. The analyst will define project requirements, monitor progress, and develop detailed specifications for software enhancements or changes. Additionally, they will create test cases to ensure traceability to requirements and manage the scheduling of software releases and hardware deployments. The role also involves conducting ad hoc analyses to address operational issues, researching existing business systems for improvement opportunities, and developing a comprehensive understanding of HAECO's software applications. The IT Business Analyst will participate in exploratory meetings to discuss potential projects and provide feedback based on software development realities. Furthermore, they will assist in creating an online knowledge base that encompasses various aspects of HAECO's software systems, contributing to a collaborative and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the conduit between the Software Development team and the rest of the organization.
  • Perform detailed business analysis to outline problems, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Act as a Product Owner focusing on project analysis and execution.
  • Identify and understand business problems and the impact of proposed solutions.
  • Champion system users/stakeholders within IT for software development requests.
  • Interface between software developers and end users to understand and document business needs.
  • Coordinate with development on estimating effort and duration for requests.
  • Define project requirements by identifying milestones, phases, and elements.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity and publishing progress reports.
  • Develop detailed requirements specifications for software enhancement/change requests.
  • Create test cases for effective traceability to detailed requirements.
  • Manage scheduling of software releases and hardware deployments with IT Operations.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to investigate operational issues.
  • Research existing business systems and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop knowledge of HAECO's Software Applications and document business process flows.
  • Attend/conduct exploratory meetings to discuss potential projects and provide feedback.
  • Assist in creating an online knowledge base for HAECO's software systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related fields (such as Information Systems).
  • Minimum years of experience in a Business Analyst role.
  • Proven experience in eliciting requirements and testing.
  • Basic knowledge in generating process documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and inquisitive.
  • Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions.
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Minimum two-year experience with diagramming tools (e.g.: Microsoft Visio).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a hybrid IT Business Analyst and Project Manager (PMP preferred).
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Java, Python, Groovy, or Ruby.
