About the position

The IT Business Analyst with Risk Governance Compliance/Cybersecurity experience will play a crucial role in analyzing business technology needs for Functional Business Areas and the Cybersecurity organization. This position is integral to the Cybersecurity PMO, acting as a strategic partner and liaison who comprehends business drivers and desired outcomes to facilitate digital transformation that aligns with processes, procedures, and systems. The successful candidate will support the Product Owner and team in completing product ownership tasks, working directly with various stakeholders including Subject Matter Experts, Project Managers, and Scrum Masters to understand requirements and translate them into user stories and acceptance criteria. The role also involves refining the product backlog as necessary and documenting deliverables such as governance and standards, business processes, and use cases to support the project. An ideal candidate should be adept at quickly assimilating domain knowledge and possess extensive experience in researching and analyzing business requirements, documenting them effectively for the intended audience. Experience working as part of an Agile team is essential, along with the ability to influence stakeholders to maximize value for customers. The candidate will engage with technical teams, such as Solution and Domain Architects, to provide recommendations on alternative solutions, ensuring that the business needs are met effectively. The position requires a proactive approach to managing the product backlog, ensuring that stories are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for the team to deliver value frequently. The candidate will also be responsible for evaluating and documenting alternatives that provide effective solutions to business problems, while maintaining clear communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business technology needs for Functional Business Areas and the Cybersecurity organization.
  • Act as a strategic partner and liaison within the Cybersecurity PMO.
  • Support the Product Owner and team in completing product ownership tasks.
  • Work directly with Product Owner, Subject Matter Experts, Project Manager, and Scrum Master to understand requirements.
  • Translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Refine product backlog as required.
  • Document deliverables like governance and standards, business processes, and use cases.
  • Engage with technical teams to provide recommendations on alternative solutions.
  • Manage regular cadence for story definition, writing, review, and prioritization.
  • Ensure stories are written at the appropriate level of detail and size for team delivery.
  • Research and analyze requirements to provide context for story writing sessions.
  • Create or review process and flow maps to document business processes and system flows.
  • Reduce complex problems to easily understood narratives and materials.
  • Work with the Product Owner and Delivery Lead to update the roadmap reflecting business priority changes.
  • Evaluate and document alternatives for effective business solutions.
  • Identify and document acceptance criteria and story dependencies.
  • Provide timely and professional client-focused communications.
  • Consult on information security technology alignment to meet business needs.
  • Review designs and technical specifications for alignment with business solutions.
  • Analyze end-to-end business processes and information needs of clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of closely related work experience, with 3 years in business analysis.
  • 2 years of experience working in an Agile environment as a business analyst.
  • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
  • 5 years of direct business analysis experience.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certificate is preferred.
  • CCBA-certification of Competency in Business Analysis is preferred.
  • IT background, especially in cybersecurity and infrastructure components.
  • Experience collaborating with Director and VP-level leadership.
  • Experience serving and meeting the needs of internal and/or external customers.
  • Direct participation in high complexity IT security projects.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies such as SAFe, LEAN, Kanban, and Scrum.

  • Demonstrated experience in a broad range of IT and cybersecurity areas.
  • Systems thinking approach to problem solving with strong visualization skills.
  • Ability to conduct and document a gap analysis.
  • Familiarity with testing, project management, software development, NERC regulatory compliance, NIST framework, SOX compliance, operational/disaster recovery.
