About the position

The IT Business Analyst at Stanley Consultants will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This position involves collaborating with operational leaders and the Technology Services team to gather and translate business requests into actionable technical requirements. The analyst will become a subject matter expert in the company's processes and data, facilitating effective requirements gathering and user story creation. The role is pivotal in enhancing the capabilities of the Technology Services Group through the development of repeatable processes and maintaining documentation regarding active business requests.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders.
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) of Stanley's processes and data to facilitate requirements gathering and user story creation.
  • Develop functional and/or technical requirements based on conversations with stakeholders for the development team.
  • Identify appropriate technologies and designs for solutions that meet requirements.
  • Work closely with Technology Services management and business stakeholders to validate and prioritize collected requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Services management team and project managers during requirements gathering and development.
  • Manage onboarding and prioritization of new projects with the Director of IT and IT steering committee.
  • Design visual and written presentations of project charters and proposed solutions for senior leadership.
  • Advocate for technology solutions for the Technology Services Group.
  • Develop user stories and requirements into wireframes and prototypes to validate solutions.
  • Identify areas for automation or efficiency gains by investigating existing processes or systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated experience in business administration, finance, information systems, or a related field.
  • Four-plus years of related work experience.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirement gathering and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience creating user stories, wireframes, and specifications based on gathered requirements.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Basic understanding of the software development life cycle and project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Ability to influence and present recommendations to management.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and inquisitive in communicating complex ideas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Project experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office 365, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Prior Excel VBA knowledge.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform development.
  • Familiarity with the engineering consulting industry.
