About the position

The IT Business Analyst - Research Technology Enablement at Astellas Pharma Inc. plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between scientific teams and digital technology. This position focuses on enhancing drug discovery processes through effective informatics solutions, ensuring that data analysis platforms and storage solutions meet the evolving needs of research teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between Business and IT stakeholders to define and document business processes and requirements.
  • Lead efforts to capture business, technical, and data migration requirements.
  • Lead testing to ensure implemented solutions meet requirements.
  • Deliver functional, non-functional requirements, use cases, user stories, and user interface designs.
  • Prepare business process documentation including end-to-end data flows, testing plans, test scripts, training, and communication materials.
  • Utilize project management processes and tools to facilitate Project IT deliverables.
  • Lead stakeholder and project team meetings to drive project and client needs, critical changes, and milestones forward.
  • Prioritize effectively by meeting deadlines and offering fast turnaround times when requested.
  • Work in complex and fast-paced environments, while being able to drive progress to meet tight deadlines.
  • Work with other Astellas IT engineering and vendor personnel to implement solutions.
  • Author and develop training materials, 'how-to' guides, and knowledge resources to facilitate user adoption of new technology.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Biotechnology, Business Administration, or a related field, followed by 5 years of experience in a related occupation, or a Master's degree in the above field with at least 3 years of related experience.
  • At least 3 years of IT business analysis experience with a background in data integration, reporting, system implementations, and system upgrades.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a consultant or in a consultant-like role.
  • Scientific Domain Expertise in biotech/pharmaceuticals Digital solutions (ELN, LIMS, etc.) is required.
  • Experience with Research and GLP is required.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including managing product backlogs using tools like ADO.
  • Experience with Cloud and on-premise infrastructure design and operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, Visio, SharePoint, OneNote, and Teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degrees and certificates (e.g. CAPM, PMP, PMI-PBA, Six Sigma) are highly desirable.
  • Preference for candidates located in the Cambridge / Westborough, MA area.
