About the position

The IT Business Integration Manager at Johnson & Johnson is responsible for bridging the gap between business functions and IT to enhance the development of business-critical tools and platforms. This role focuses on strategic oversight of high-priority business/IT projects, ensuring alignment of IT initiatives with business objectives, and fostering collaboration between Therapeutics Discovery and IT teams to improve operational efficiency and accelerate project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between business units and IT to ensure clear communication and understanding of needs and capabilities.
  • Work with business leaders to identify priorities and seek and maintain alignment of IT initiatives with business goals.
  • Monitor business-relevant IT projects and offer strategic guidance and oversight.
  • In partnership with IT, evaluate the timely delivery and impact of IT projects and adjust projects as necessary.
  • Oversee indirect team members within a matrix organizational structure.
  • Partner with colleagues in IT to guide business functions through the adoption of new technologies.
  • Foster a culture of partnership and mutual respect between teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with experience in life sciences is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience following the completion of a degree.
  • Professional experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector.
  • Sound understanding of data/software engineering concepts, particularly in database and software lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in IT architecture and understanding of how different IT components support business objectives.
  • Solid knowledge of non-functional requirements of software systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Track record in project management.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one scientific programming language, e.g., python or R.
  • Working knowledge of HPC, cloud-based and GPU-accelerated compute platforms.
  • Solid understanding of MLOps and DevOps concepts.
  • Experience with data analytics platforms such as Spotfire.
  • Familiarity with cheminformatics toolkits such as rkdit, computational chemistry software (e.g., MOE, Schroedinger, OpenEye), workflow tools such as KNIME, and ML workflow management tools.
