About the position

The IT Business Operations Manager at Texas A&M Agrilife Research plays a crucial role in managing business operations within the AgriLife Research Center for Managed Technology Services (ARCMTS). This position involves providing staff support, coordinating various business activities, and ensuring effective financial management and reporting. The manager will work closely with the Director, overseeing budget activities, auditing accounts, and developing business procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of ARCMTS with managing business operations.
  • Serve as an approver and backup signer of vouchers and requisitions.
  • Review and audit reconciliations of all accounts.
  • Develop, monitor, and report budget activity.
  • Prepare complex monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Participate in management, policy, fiscal, and programming decisions of the department.
  • Coordinate annual fiscal year closing activities and draft new fiscal year plans.
  • Propose solutions to complex financial problems.
  • Audit and approve payment processing activities and oversee center purchasing activities.
  • Serve as the primary business contact on the Center.
  • Develop, implement, and audit business procedures upon approval and advise upper administration.
  • Manage all business files including coordinating and auditing business files.
  • Oversee the administration of contracts and memos of understanding (MOU).
  • Prepare documents for review by principal investigator(s).
  • Develop complex financial and statistical analyses and summary reports.
  • Compose standard and ad hoc reports and business-related correspondence.
  • Train staff on new and existing business procedures and interpret policies and regulations for staff.
  • Serve as records management coordinator for all center business-related activities.
  • May supervise business staff and/or student workers and provide supervision.
  • Participate in governance framework within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience in business, accounting, or related area.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
