About the position

The IT Business Systems Analyst II position at UNC Pembroke is a critical role within the Office of Human Resources, situated in the Finance and Administration division. This position is primarily responsible for providing technical support for all Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), specifically focusing on the enterprise system Banner and HR DataMart. The analyst will serve as the project lead and liaison with the UNC Shared Services team, ensuring that payroll processes and Banner system tables comply with the UNC Shared Services Payroll Model. This role is essential in bridging the gap between business operations and information technology, ensuring that systems development, testing, and production align with organizational goals. The analyst will troubleshoot system and data issues, providing accurate resolutions and enhancements. They will also be responsible for testing programs, table codes, and other system components to ensure that updates from the UNC System Office Shared Services team are correctly implemented. Additionally, the analyst will verify and validate cyclic entries and manage the DataMart closure process. This position is designated for remote work, which must be performed within the state of North Carolina, and is eligible for a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates. The Office of Human Resources at UNC Pembroke provides a comprehensive range of services, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and benefits administration for nearly 900 faculty and staff, along with approximately 300 temporary employees. The HRIS Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of these services through the effective use of technology and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical support lead for all HRIS systems and reports.
  • Act as project lead/liaison with the UNC Shared Services team to ensure compliance with payroll processes.
  • Represent the university on the Change Advisory Board (CAB) with the UNC Shared Services.
  • Provide expertise in the Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and interface integration.
  • Bridge the gap between functional business operations and IT systems development.
  • Troubleshoot system and data issues, providing accurate resolutions and enhancements.
  • Test programs, table codes, and system components to ensure correct updates and results.
  • Verify and validate all cyclic entries and manage the DataMart closure process.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in HR best practices and systems analysis.
  • Experience with enterprise-level HRIS systems, preferably Banner ERP.
  • Functional and technical knowledge in payroll, benefits, and HR processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • A degree in Human Resource Management with a focus on Information Systems or a degree in Computer Science or IT.
  • Previous experience in enterprise-level HRIS systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of university enterprise-wide HRIS and related business information systems.
