About the position

The IT Business Systems Analyst position at Veterans Affairs involves performing business process analysis and design, providing systems support for automated business applications, and acting as a liaison between business end users and applications developers. The role includes analyzing business processes, documenting existing and proposed processes, and providing technical assistance and training to end users.

Responsibilities

• Confer with clients to determine business needs and requirements.
• Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
• Analyze and document existing business processes and proposed modifications.
• Document business rules, policies, and standards.
• Communicate with applications developers about business requirements to develop solutions.
• Provide technical instruction and assistance on automated applications.
• Investigate reported system malfunctions and document findings.
• Provide training to end users on application usage.
• Strategize with end users and application developers to find software solutions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for applications developers regarding workflow and design questions.
• Analyze business system operation/function solutions for feasibility.
• Document business system operations/functions and proposed changes.
• Develop system specifications and participate in system analysis and design.
• Build data test files and perform system testing.
• Lead a team in building and maintaining data test files and accomplishing testing functions.
• Create and maintain business training and support material.

Requirements

• Post high school coursework, training, or experience in the analysis of business processes and system requirements.
• Experience in the creation of business process applications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with Emergency Health Record (EHR) Systems.
• Experience handling HIPAA information.
