About the position

The IT Business Systems Analyst position at Cannon Muskegon is designed to enhance IT systems across all business units, thereby improving productivity and information flow throughout the organization. This role is critical in ensuring that the IT team maintains the systems in an orderly manner while acting as a senior programmer/analyst for IT applications. The analyst will assist users with computer-related issues, ensuring that all systems function effectively and efficiently. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to adhering to the company's safety and regulatory policies. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues faced by programmers and system users. This includes writing, testing, debugging, and documenting application programs. The analyst will also play a key role in training users on the capabilities of online applications and software, as well as assisting in the training of new IT personnel. Staying informed about current IT technologies relevant to the company's needs is essential, as is the ability to manage after-hour emergency calls when necessary. The analyst will assist in program management and issue resolution to prevent service interruptions, manage changes to software and network configurations, and oversee user administration tasks such as setting up new users and maintaining security levels. Additionally, the role involves managing vital records, including data storage, backup, and recovery procedures, and collaborating with vendors to support additional software applications as needed. Other duties may be assigned as required, making adaptability and a willingness to take on new challenges important traits for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and adhere to all Company and regulatory EH&S policies and procedures.
  • Identify and solve problems for the programmers and system users.
  • Write, test, debug, and document application programs.
  • Train users in methods and capabilities of online applications and software.
  • Assist in training of new IT personnel.
  • Keep informed with current IT technologies related to the Company's requirements and equipment.
  • Accept after-hour phone calls in emergency situations.
  • Assist in program management and issue resolution to avoid service interruption.
  • Assist in management of changes to all software, data tables, and network configurations for IT applications.
  • Assist in user administration including new user set-up, maintain security levels, user profiles, and termination of user privileges.
  • Assist in vital record management including data storage, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Work with vendors to support additional software applications as needed: LIMS, ABS, shop floor data collection.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field of study.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of programmer/analyst experience.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Instructional skills - ability to teach others.
  • Adaptability - open to new methods and changes in technology to address work-related issues or problems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Drive and initiative.
  • Expertise using Glovia / G2, Syteline Cloud, LIMS, and other ERP, MES, and QMS systems.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to comprehend complex problems and translate information into user-friendly applications.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL server administration, including database, backup, restore, archiving, and security.
  • Familiarity with SQL programming and Power BI Report administration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Integration Services.
  • Ability to write and maintain PowerShell scripts.
