About the position

The IT Business Systems Specialist plays a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating IT collaboration and services within their assigned area of responsibility. This position involves steering various functions such as budget management, license management, quality assurance, and project steering, while ensuring strategic alignment with BMW Group's core IT processes. The specialist is responsible for designing business processes, mentoring team members, and developing strong partnerships with both business and IT stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate IT collaboration and services in assigned areas.
  • Steer budget, headcount, license management, quality assurance, and audit processes.
  • Design business processes and innovation change initiatives in partnership with relevant departments.
  • Facilitate delivery of IT services to process partners in the assigned area.
  • Ensure strategic alignment with BMW Group core IT processes.
  • Establish strong partnerships with business and IT process partners.
  • Negotiate agreements with business and support functions in the assigned area.
  • Mentor other resources on tasks and responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships at all levels across the organization.
  • Facilitate IT quality assurance checks and ensure compliance with BMW Information Technology Process.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to define and communicate Agile principles.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and standards for strategic development.
  • Act as a liaison with software vendors for efficient implementation of new software products.
  • Challenge IT internal processes to deliver sustainable productivity improvements using Agile methodologies.
  • Analyze existing and future initiatives with prioritization based on local and BMW Group strategy.
  • Prepare and sustain the local business prioritization process.
  • Ensure effective systems change control, problem management, and incident management.
  • Ensure integrity, reliability, and reproduction of software products.
  • Ensure IT security and compliance of planned and existing systems.
  • Develop and manage project plans including deliverables, budget, and milestones.
  • Report and manage risks and progress of projects in the assigned area.
  • Manage efforts to design, develop, train, and deploy systems and procedures.
  • Ensure target achievement is consistently attained in the assigned area.
  • Promote the use of standard processes and Agile methodology for all initiatives.
  • Understand and model VPS principles and concepts of standard work and problem solving.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent of 4 years professional experience in IT applications development and support.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in IT or equivalent success in an IT-related function.
  • 5+ years of experience in implementing/configuring IT systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in planning, analyzing, designing, testing, implementing, documenting, and training of Enterprise IT applications.
  • 5+ years of experience and ability to train others.
  • 3+ years of knowledge in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, JAVA, HTML, JSP, J2EE, SQL, Oracle, UNIX/LINUX (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience working in Agile projects (preferred).
