About the position

The IT Communications Analyst II is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the network infrastructure at the Riverside University Health System - Public Health. This role involves designing, configuring, and maintaining the hospital's network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices. The analyst will manage firewalls, implement security measures, and utilize monitoring tools to assess network performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain documentation for network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and define communication requirements and network infrastructure based on evaluation of work processes and customer requirements.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and control network and remote access; track and analyze problems and resolutions.
  • Develop and maintain communication system security and firewall requirements based on County standards.
  • Make recommendations for infrastructure enhancements to gain efficiency and technological advantage.
  • Measure network resource availability, performance, and capacity on a scheduled basis.
  • Develop strategic plans for operation and growth of the telecommunication system.
  • Troubleshoot system failures, performance deficiencies, and circuit and wiring issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network hubs, switches, and routers.
  • Research, evaluate, test, and recommend products and services to meet future business needs.
  • Coordinate communication interfaces with federal, state, and local agencies and vendors.

Requirements

  • Substantial hands-on experience in network engineering.
  • Proficiency in routing, switching, and firewall management.
  • Experience with wireless management and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using network monitoring tools, especially SolarWinds.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and tools.
  • Practical knowledge of firewall management, particularly with Palo Alto and Cisco systems.
  • Familiarity with network switches and routing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
