About the position

The IT Communications Technician I position at Denver International Airport (DEN) involves the installation, repair, alignment, and maintenance of various RF systems and equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring effective communication infrastructure at one of the busiest airports in the world, contributing to the airport's operational efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and program portable 800MHz radios.
  • Perform vehicle radio equipment installations, strips, and repairs.
  • Resolve Tier 1 RF Communications Systems issues.
  • Participate in monthly on-call rotation (includes stand-by pay).
  • Assist in the design, planning, construction, and configuration of the IT communications infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance for customer inquiries and Service Desk escalations on complex issues regarding communication infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and resolve or refer to the appropriate IT resource.
  • Assist in the design, maintenance, and modifications of electronic and communication systems for voice, data, and video delivery.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of infrastructure and server/application administration.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Three (3) years experience performing Information Technology communications maintenance, repair, and installation.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.

Nice-to-haves

  • FCC General Radio Operators License (preferred, not required).
  • Formal education, experience, or training in RF fundamentals.
  • Experience with radios and radio systems.
  • Experience with Distributed Antenna Systems.
  • Experience with VHF radio systems.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
