About the position

The IT Consultant - System Administrator will manage technology infrastructures for multiple clients across various industries. This role involves supporting and maintaining servers, desktops, firewalls, network equipment, software applications, and backup systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of providing exceptional service while managing multiple projects and clients. The position requires strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to team efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain healthy working relationships with multiple customers and manage customer expectations.
  • Regularly communicate project status to customer contacts.
  • Understand customer business processes and recommend technology solutions to improve them.
  • Manage and plan complex technology projects, coordinating internal and external resources.
  • Delegate tasks and project items effectively.
  • Run internal and external status meetings to maintain project progress.
  • Deploy complex solutions involving various technologies.
  • Build new network and server environments, including physical installation of equipment.
  • Manage, maintain, and upgrade existing servers, networks, and desktops.
  • Solve technical problems including server and desktop hardware issues, desktop viruses, and software problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 2-3 years of IT management experience.
  • Minimum 1 year as a network/system administrator, IT manager, or IT consultant.
  • Prior experience handling multiple customers at an IT consultancy or MSP is a plus.
  • Knowledge of common business operating systems and applications, including Windows, Windows Server, and Office.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interface professionally with customer executives and employees.
  • Ability to see problems through to resolution and communicate progress and results to customers.
  • High degree of autonomy and ability to self-manage is required.
  • Physically capable of picking up and moving computer hardware.
  • Must reside in Austin, TX, or the surrounding area.
