About the position

The IT Cybersecurity Specialist position at the U.S. Coast Guard involves managing information technology projects related to cybersecurity and navigation systems. The role is critical in ensuring the operational integrity and sustainability of CG navigation and radar systems, requiring a strong focus on project management, budget oversight, and compliance with IT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review current operational, functional, and system level requirements to recapitalize and sustain CG navigation/radar systems.
  • Ensure requisite funding is requested for assigned projects through rigorous project and budget management.
  • Prepare IT acquisition packages and evaluate system lifecycle costs to keep projects on track for cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Evaluate the need to recapitalize unsupportable CG Navigation/radar IT systems and ensure continuity of operations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting artifacts for successful contract awards in procuring IT Navigation systems.
  • Experience in reviewing operational & functional IT requirements to aid in the oversight and development of system level IT requirements.
  • Experience in conducting annual budget analysis/review to prepare for out-year IT radar project work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level II (FAC P/PM-II) or equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
  • Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
