About the position

The IT Cybersecurity Specialist (InfoSec) position is a critical role within the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) aimed at supporting the mission of the US Cyber Command. This position involves conducting comprehensive assessments of security controls, executing security assessments for various systems, and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity policies. The specialist will oversee contractor personnel and coordinate analyses of cybersecurity products, making it essential for maintaining the integrity and security of information systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent comprehensive assessments of management, operational, and technical security controls.
• Execute on-site and remote Security Assessments for DISA and external customer systems, including Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Evaluate cybersecurity plans, procedures, and requirements for compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies.
• Oversee work by contractor support personnel in traditional security disciplines and operating system security.
• Coordinate, scope, and conduct analyses of information systems cybersecurity products and associated systems.
• Determine overall technical features and protection required for information systems and networks.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Experience in operational risk using in-depth Risk Management knowledge.
• Experience conducting site assistance visits and providing cybersecurity assessment support to external customers.
• Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing IT-related work for accuracy and completeness.
• Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers and assessing their IT needs.
• Oral Communication: Ability to brief management and IT staff on system statuses and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify alternatives to address complex information-related issues.
