About the position

The IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Network) at the U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities is responsible for providing expert advice on cybersecurity issues, including zero-trust networking, cloud services, and system hardening. This role involves managing system patches, mitigating vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity standards. The specialist will also support cloud-based systems and troubleshoot complex IT events, making it a critical position for maintaining the security and integrity of the organization's information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert advisor on information system cybersecurity issues.
  • Manage system patches and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Support cloud-based systems and provide expertise on secure cloud architectures.
  • Troubleshoot and mitigate complex disruptive IT events.
  • Extract data and perform analytics to support reporting such as FISMA compliance.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or equivalent experience in cybersecurity.
  • Experience with planning, designing, and integrating secure hybrid systems.
  • Knowledge of federal government standards for cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Ability to express information clearly and effectively to various audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with zero-trust networking and cloud services.
  • Familiarity with NIST and ISO/IEC 27001 standards.
  • Experience in managing telework/remote work connectivity.
