About the position

The IT Data Architect at Schneider Electric's Sustainability Business plays a crucial role in shaping the organization's data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives. This position focuses on leveraging data as a strategic asset, crafting scalable solutions, and guiding data architecture practices to support operational excellence and sustainable business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization's objectives.
  • Design and implement cloud-based data solutions using services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Architect high-performing database structures, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Establish robust governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, quality, security, and compliance.
  • Develop strategies for data distribution ensuring availability, consistency, and fault tolerance.
  • Define and implement efficient data access patterns and strategies for various use cases.
  • Utilize modern data integration techniques for real-time data processing and insights.
  • Optimize data systems for performance and scalability.
  • Implement comprehensive data security policies and procedures.
  • Continuously assess and recommend new data technologies and management tools.
  • Work closely with business leaders and IT teams to translate business needs into actionable data architectures.
  • Effectively document the data architecture and strategy and communicate these concepts.
  • Provide leadership in data-related areas, mentor junior staff, and foster a supportive culture.
  • Contribute to the technology strategy with a focus on Data Architecture and promote best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; master's degree in data science preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in data and data architecture related roles.
  • Extensive experience in data architecture, including relational databases and cloud data architectures.
  • Proficiency in SQL, database platforms (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server), data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark), and data pipeline tools (Apache Kafka, NiFi).
  • Ability to craft and execute a data strategy that integrates data analytics, data science, and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and leverage data science techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
