About the position

The IT Data Science Analyst at Oldcastle APG will be responsible for analyzing large data sets to uncover insights that support business decisions. This role involves data cleaning, integration, and the application of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to develop predictive models. The analyst will also create dashboards and reports to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, ensuring data integrity and quality throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, clean, and integrate large data sets from various sources (databases, APIs, IIoT etc.)
  • Identify and address data quality issues and ensure data integrity
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and insights
  • Utilize statistical methods to analyze data and interpret results that support business decisions
  • Develop and implement predictive models using machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering)
  • Optimize and fine-tune models for accuracy and efficiency
  • Create dashboards and reports to communicate insights clearly to stakeholders
  • Use data visualization tools (like Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries) to present findings and make complex data understandable
  • Work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and Data Scientists to align data initiatives with business needs
  • Stay updated with the latest data science and machine learning techniques
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting

Requirements

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
  • Experience with SQL for database querying
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills to present findings to non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics)
  • 1-3 years of experience in data analysis or a similar field
