About the position

The Database Administration Analyst II position at Information Technology Services (ITS) State of Idaho involves providing comprehensive database administration support to various state agencies. The role focuses on maintaining, managing, and troubleshooting databases primarily using Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for enterprise database platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily support for multiple enterprise database platforms, primarily utilizing Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
• Develops a variety of reports and participates in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
• Provides remote and on-site support to a wide variety of customers and supported systems as needed.
• Works closely with software developers in support of application development, software enhancements, and systems integration activities.
• Interprets and implements database changes and enhancements from user requirements.
• Monitors and optimizes database performance, including backup, restore, and database functions.

Requirements

• Good knowledge of relational database principles and data normalization, typically gained by obtaining an associate's degree or certification related to relational database concepts.
• Good knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), typically gained by certification related to SQL design or administration and at least one year of experience writing and utilizing SQL.
• Experience installing, administering, and monitoring production databases and database servers, typically gained through at least one year of full-time work experience.
• Experience technically interacting directly with clients to analyze customer needs, typically gained by at least one year of full-time work experience.
