About the position

The IT Database Administration Intern position at SpartanNash is a paid, full-time summer internship designed for active students pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related fields. This role provides exposure to the grocery and distribution industry, allowing interns to engage in real-world problem-solving and participate in educational opportunities. The internship runs from May 19th, 2025, to August 8th, 2025, and includes responsibilities such as maintaining database technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining and documenting database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to its objectives.
  • Complete or participate in at least one strategic project (Capstone Project) during the internship and possibly present to the executive team.
  • Participate in learning opportunities, including tours of warehouses and retail stores, and community service events.
  • Attend weekly professional development workshops for skill development and team building.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Be an active student through the summer.
  • Graduate December 2025 or later.
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater (Preferred).
  • Relevant work experience such as a prior internship or campus experience (Preferred).
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Required).
  • Basic Database/Data Warehouse concepts (Required).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • SQL Management experience (Preferred).
  • SQL Programming experience (Preferred).
