About the position

The IT Database Administrator III at Fayetteville State University is responsible for designing, documenting, configuring, implementing, and managing databases and data governance frameworks to support various applications and processes. This role ensures the integrity, availability, and security of data through the development and enforcement of database and data governance policies and procedures. The position requires extensive skills in database architecture, data governance, data quality, compliance, and data lifecycle management, with a focus on supporting Banner ERP information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, configure, implement, and manage databases and data governance frameworks.
  • Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of data through policy development and enforcement.
  • Plan and develop database architectures and data governance strategies.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues for users and respond to incidents reported by ITS tier-one support.
  • Advise management on database and data governance concepts, functional capabilities, parameters, and prototypes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, or a closely related field with 2-4 years of experience in database management/data integration.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, or a closely related field with 3-5 years of experience in data management/data integration.
  • Equivalent combination of education or experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related degree with three years of experience in database management/data integration.
  • Four years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (7 years total).
