About the position

The IT Database Administrator at Angelina College is a full-time position responsible for maintaining and configuring modules in the Student Information System (SIS) Database and related services. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the SIS, which supports the college's diverse student population. The administrator will work under the direction of the Senior Director of Information Technology and will be involved in various college-related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills to interact favorably with instructors, students, and other technicians. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, updating, and maintaining the SIS and its related services. The administrator will manage user and group permissions, create and publish forms in the portal, and secure the college's software against security risks by employing the latest security protocols. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a procedure manual for the SIS, attending all relevant trainings and meetings, and acting as the primary support person for the SIS and related systems. The administrator will also maintain change logs of major changes made to the software and serve as the primary IT support liaison between Title V Grants and IT for IT resources. This position is essential for promoting a positive work environment among colleagues and requires a high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion. The IT Database Administrator will play a vital role in supporting the college's mission to provide quality education and services to its students.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, update, and maintain SIS and related services.
  • Maintain user and group permissions for the SIS and related services.
  • Create, maintain, and publish forms in the portal.
  • Secure and monitor the Angelina College software for security risks by employing the latest security protocols.
  • Maintain a procedure manual for the SIS and related services.
  • Attend all trainings/meetings related to SIS and related services.
  • Act as the primary support person for the SIS and related systems.
  • Maintain change logs of major changes made to the software.
  • Act as the primary IT support between Title V Grants and IT for IT resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university, or an Associate's degree in the same fields with 3+ years of full-time experience in SQL or SQL Database Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience programming in SQL (preferred).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact favorably with instructors, students, other technicians, and the public.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Knowledge of basic clerical duties and responsibilities.
