About the position

The IT Database Administrator plays a crucial role in the implementation and maintenance of database management systems, specifically for the moderately complex Sales Coverage system. This position is hybrid, requiring on-site presence three days a week in Northbrook, IL. The administrator will support leadership in planning and executing Sales Coverage IT projects, ensuring that all goals and objectives are met within the established time frames. This includes developing processes to ensure that data is stored correctly and that access is properly controlled. In addition to supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems, the administrator will conduct thorough reviews of database system needs, options, risks, and cost analyses, all while considering the impact on IT departments and the organization’s business goals. The role involves designing and installing database management system applications, establishing synergies with existing database applications, and monitoring project progress by tracking activities, resolving issues, publishing progress reports, and recommending necessary actions. The IT Database Administrator will also be responsible for performing backup and recovery operations on database management systems, adhering to the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and following all physical and digital security practices. Additional responsibilities include contributing to system development through the analysis of business requirements, business design, client training, data conversion, testing, and maintenance. The administrator will analyze Sales Coverage system requirements, prepare specifications, and engage in coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of database management systems for the Sales Coverage system.
  • Support leadership with planning and executing Sales Coverage IT projects, ensuring goals and objectives are met within an arranged time frame.
  • Develop processes to ensure data is properly stored and access is properly controlled.
  • Review database system needs, options, risks, cost analysis, and impact on IT departments and business goals.
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems.
  • Design and install database management system applications.
  • Establish synergies with existing database applications and processing systems.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
  • Perform backup and recovery on database management systems.
  • Follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and adhere to all physical and digital security practices.

Requirements

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Generally seven years of directly related experience in database management systems and solutions.
  • Technical working knowledge and experience developing database management systems.
