About the position

The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking a Database Analyst 2 to join the Property Tax team. This role focuses on database design, installation, and maintenance, requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues. The successful candidate will work in the Boise office and will be responsible for creating functional database systems and supporting various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Interact with internal staff, various county staff, and third-party vendors
• Design databases and data access methods for software
• Provide SQL Server support
• Support IIS
• Maintain the data dictionary
• Monitor and optimize database usage
• Administer and manage databases in production environments
• Apply software releases/patches in counties
• Plan for database upgrades and forecast storage and infrastructure needs
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of database technologies
• Occasional travel to counties in Idaho

Requirements

• Good knowledge of relational database principles and data normalization
• Structured Query Language (SQL) proficiency
• At least 1 year of experience in installing, administering, and monitoring production databases
• Experience interacting directly with clients to analyze customer needs
