About the position

The IT Data/Database Analyst position is an entry-level role within the Nebraska State Government, focusing on supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer applications across various agencies. The analyst will provide database administration support under the supervision of experienced professionals, ensuring the availability and reliability of databases while collaborating with application developers to address recurring issues and improve application quality.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer applications for Nebraska State Government agencies.
• Provide database administration support, including infrastructure, design, implementation, maintenance, security, backup, and recoverability.
• Troubleshoot database issues and ensure overall performance of databases.
• Complete service requests and resolve incidents within established SLAs.
• Establish and maintain communication with customers regarding the status of their requests.
• Collaborate with application developers to develop strategic solutions to recurring problems.
• Provide on-call support outside of regular business hours as needed.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Computer Science/IT.
• One year of experience working with relational databases.
• Analytical problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
• Knowledge of logical and physical database design and theories.
• Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms.
• Good multi-tasking abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• At least one year of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications and complex SQL queries.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Management Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio, SolarWinds DPA, Red Gate SQL Compare, Red Gate SQL Data Compare, WinSCP, DB2 Connect, and Windows command line commands.
• Experience with creating good technical documentation.
