About the position

As a Junior IT Desktop Support Technician, you will provide essential technical support services, focusing on desktops, laptops, and file/print servers. This role requires you to be a cross-department resource, showcasing advanced technical expertise alongside exceptional customer service management skills. You will be tasked with addressing advanced issues related to Windows, OSX, and desktop support, acting as the primary point of contact for end-users on a daily basis. Your responsibilities will include taking ownership of end-user needs and services, representing the IT organization in a professional manner, and maintaining regular communication with your direct manager. In this position, you will be expected to research, resolve, and respond to all customer issues and inquiries received through various channels, including phone, email, or in person, adhering to current standards and procedures. You will also configure and deploy workstations for both new and existing users, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and perform necessary hardware repairs. Maintaining an asset inventory of equipment such as PCs, printers, and servers will be part of your duties, along with sharing job responsibilities and knowledge within the team. Additionally, you will develop basic research skills to stay updated on current and emerging trends in the computer industry and apply them to meet business needs. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the IT field, as you will be working under general supervision and will have the opportunity to resolve less complex problems while developing your skills in a supportive environment. Responsibilities

  • Research, resolve, and respond to all customer issues and inquiries received via phone, email, or in person in accordance with current standards and procedures.
  • Configure and deploy workstations (Mac & PC) for new and existing users.
  • Troubleshoot workstation hardware and software problems. Perform hardware repairs when needed.
  • Maintain asset inventory of equipment for site (PCs, printers, servers, etc.).
  • Share job responsibilities and knowledge within the Team.
  • Develop basic research skills for current and emerging trends in the computer industry and be able to apply them to the business needs.
  • Answer limited number of support desk phone calls.

Requirements

  • Experience configuring and supporting Windows and Mac computers.
  • Demonstrated experience with PC configurations and the installation/maintenance of desktop applications.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Has knowledge of the field's commonly used concepts, practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Resolves problems/issues that are less complex in nature.
  • Consistently demonstrates solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Makes routine decisions of basic complexity with a focus on service excellence.
  • Able to exhibit basic judgement and resolve low-level conflicts with limited assistance.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Completes basic analysis in completing assignments and deliverables.
  • Experience with remote support solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 a plus.
  • Experience with MDM to manage computers and mobile devices.
