About the position

The IT Desktop Support Technician position offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to advance their careers in IT. TEKsystems, a leader in technology services, is seeking multiple qualified candidates to join their Desktop Support team, which is part of a larger IT department. This is a first shift opportunity on a Contract to Hire basis, allowing candidates to gain valuable experience while working with a local enterprise company. In this role, technicians will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving software and hardware incidents across various operating systems, including Windows and Mac. Key responsibilities include swapping out laptops and desktops, deploying Windows 10/11, re-imaging machines, and assisting users with IT-related incidents. Technicians will take ownership of issues, performing problem analysis to implement fixes and restoring service to customers as quickly as possible. Accurate documentation of requests using the IT service desk system is essential, as is the installation and configuration of new IT equipment. Additionally, technicians will resolve incidents related to printers, copiers, and scanners, all while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems (Windows and Mac) and across a range of software applications.
  • Swap out laptops/desktops and deploy Windows 10/11.
  • Re-image Windows 11 onto machines from Windows 10.
  • Assist users with any logged IT-related incidents when called upon.
  • Take ownership of issues by carrying out problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes.
  • Accurately record, update, and document requests using the IT service desk system.
  • Install and configure new IT equipment.
  • Resolve incidents and upgrade different types of software and hardware.
  • Resolve incidents with printers, copiers, and scanners.
  • Maintain a first-class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and appropriately.

Requirements

  • Previous Helpdesk or Desktop Support or PC Technician experience is preferred.
  • IT certifications are desirable for this role, specifically CompTIA Certifications.
