About the position

As an IT Desktop Technician at CGI Group, Inc., you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our end users. Your primary responsibility will be to support and maintain desktop systems, ensuring that all hardware and software components are functioning optimally. You will be the first point of contact for technical issues, and your expertise will help resolve problems efficiently, minimizing downtime for our users. This position requires a strong understanding of Windows operating systems, as well as experience with various desktop applications and hardware troubleshooting. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and upgrading desktop systems, as well as providing support for network connectivity issues. You will also assist in the deployment of new technologies and participate in projects aimed at improving the overall user experience. Your ability to communicate effectively with users and provide clear instructions will be essential in ensuring that technical issues are resolved promptly. Additionally, you will be expected to document all support activities and maintain accurate records of user interactions. This will involve using ticketing systems to track issues and resolutions, ensuring that all incidents are logged and followed up on as necessary. You will also collaborate with other IT team members to identify trends in support requests and contribute to the development of knowledge base articles to assist users in troubleshooting common issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end users for desktop systems and applications.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Desktop Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop applications.
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users and provide clear instructions.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network troubleshooting and support.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST).
