About the position

The Senior IT Developer for AS400/RPG at Ashley Furniture Industries is responsible for developing and maintaining applications on the AS400 platform. This role requires extensive experience in RPG programming and related technologies, focusing on enhancing existing systems and supporting web applications. The position emphasizes collaboration, effective communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure the smooth operation of IT services within the company.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using CL, RPG/400, RPG-ILE, and RPG Free-Form.
• Work with Service Programs, ILE Modules, bound programs, binding directories, embedded SQL, and Stored Procedures.
• Expose iSeries programs for web applications through stored procedures and web services.
• Provide support and maintenance for existing AS400-based applications.
• Handle XML and JSON documents in AS400.
• Utilize debugging techniques for interactive and batch jobs.
• Manage DD L and Spooled files.

Requirements

• 5+ years of development experience in CL, RPG/400, RPG-ILE, and RPG Free-Form.
• Experience with IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client (Eclipse).
• Strong knowledge of OS 400 operating systems and CL job control language.
• Proficient in IBM DB2 and SQL.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with MDCMS Management tool.
• Familiarity with API development and web services.
