About the position

The Data Systems Analyst position is designed for an individual with strong SQL development skills who will provide technical support and 3rd tier support for various applications including Infinity and Corporate View. The role requires a self-motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced, diverse team environment, focusing on system analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system requirements and prepare specifications.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document applications.
  • Implement complex requirements across multiple platforms and applications.
  • Resolve problems by modifying procedures and considering equipment capacity and limitations.
  • Support the identification of system requirements through user interviews and vendor selection.
  • Independently analyze and isolate application issues for problem resolution.
  • Monitor software project progress and publish reports.
  • Investigate problems to improve system performance and recommend solutions.
  • Assist in defining specifications for software applications and modify existing applications.
  • Develop and maintain database stored procedures, triggers, and views.
  • Analyze and define logical and physical database structures based on project requirements.
  • Work with IS team members and users to define critical business requirements.
  • Maintain standards and security procedures for database integrity.
  • Participate in conceptual database design and specifications.
  • Perform database administration activities including installation, configuration, backup, and maintenance.
  • Optimize, troubleshoot, and tune databases in development/production environments.
  • Ensure reliability and security of database systems.
  • Develop test plans and test data for database systems.

Requirements

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Four years of directly-related experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and/or IT development experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of SQL development and administration.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4-8 years experience in designing and implementing relational databases.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of software development life-cycle.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
