About the position

The Software Asset Management Process Lead will provide the IT organization with comprehensive support for the end-to-end software asset processes. This role is pivotal in collaborating with the ITSM Manager, the Software Asset Management Process Owner, and various IT stakeholders to implement and manage best practices, processes, standards, and policies. The Process Lead possesses a deep understanding of Software Asset processes and the methodologies required to guide the organization towards achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and overarching goals of IT Operations. This position is responsible for developing and directing the architecting of strategic priorities, aligning business processes, and leading Software Asset Management and ITSM initiatives. The Process Lead acts as an advocate for process integrity and customer experience, establishing best practices, standards, and policies while enabling effective data gathering and validation methods. The ultimate goal is to empower the enterprise to meet or exceed its goals and metrics across various business and IT strategies. In this role, the Process Lead will also focus on continuous improvement of the Software Asset Management (SAM) processes through regular reviews and updates, ensuring consistent execution across the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to software compliance and governance, maintaining adherence to vendor agreements, and minimizing compliance risks. The Process Lead will oversee the entire lifecycle of software assets, from acquisition to disposal, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking. Additionally, the role involves managing relationships with software vendors and service providers, analyzing software asset expenditures for cost-saving opportunities, and generating insightful reports for senior management based on data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and manage the SAM processes in alignment with industry best practices and organizational policies.
  • Ensure consistent execution of the SAM process across the organization.
  • Continuously improve the SAM process through regular review and updates.
  • Maintain and manage software license compliance, ensuring adherence to vendor agreements and minimizing compliance risks.
  • Develop and enforce software usage policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all software assets.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of software assets from acquisition to disposal, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors and service providers.
  • Analyze and report on software asset expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimization.
  • Generate regular reports on software asset status, compliance, and financial metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of combined experience in Software Asset Management Support or Leadership Role in an IT operations, managed services, or service delivery environment.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management Professional (SAMPro).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Process Improvement, or a similar field of study, or equivalent job experience.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 3 or 4 Certification preferred, or equivalent experience.
