About the position

The City of Chandler Information Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an IT Data Architect Principal Analyst. This position is integral to the city's enterprise data analytics program, providing vision and strategy while collaborating with application managers and business leaders to understand evolving requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical acumen in data warehouse and data lake implementations, along with experience in delivering standards and procedures. Leadership, short and long-term planning, and project management skills are essential for success in this role. As an IT Enterprise Data Architect, you will serve as a subject matter expert, contributing to the organization's use of data-driven decisions. You will develop a detailed knowledge of the underlying data and data products, becoming the go-to expert on content, current and potential future uses of data, and the interrelationship between core elements of the data repository. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, utilizing initiative to anticipate needs in areas of responsibility. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts. The position also demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with knowledge in business analytics, key BI trends, reporting standards, and project management. The ability to present data clearly and the willingness to continually learn and demonstrate new skills through hands-on training, classroom training, and self-study are essential attributes for an employee in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and strategy for the city's enterprise data analytics program.
  • Collaborate with application managers and business leaders to understand evolving requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on enterprise data management and related technologies.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the underlying data and data products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience with information technology programs and services, with expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with enterprise data management technologies, including database platforms, ETL tools, and SQL Server (preferably MS Azure Synapse Analytics).
  • Fundamental Cloud Infrastructure experience (MS Azure preferred).
  • Experience developing Machine Learning Models.
  • Strong experience in Export Load Transform (ELT) ingestion operations.
