About the position

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an IT EPIC Application Analyst to join our team. This position is crucial in enhancing patient care and operational efficiency through the design and implementation of information technology solutions. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing systems, including testing and documenting Epic applications. As a subject matter expert, the analyst will lead teams in making decisions on system configurations and options, ensuring that the technology aligns with clinical and operational needs. The role involves designing, building, testing, implementing, and supporting IT solutions that meet both operational and clinical requirements. The analyst will deliver project assignments of medium to high complexity, which includes application design and configuration build. Close collaboration with customers is essential to document requirements and communicate effectively to implement necessary changes. The analyst will also support and maintain existing functionalities and applications, performing intermediate system analysis and troubleshooting to implement new functionalities. In addition to technical responsibilities, the analyst will create thorough system design and build documentation, analyze system functionality, and translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical designs. Regular meetings with department heads and executives will be necessary to identify and prioritize their needs. The analyst will lead application management activities for a specific functional area, manage product lifecycle management, and assist in identifying barriers to the adoption of clinical practices. On-call coverage is required on a rotational basis, and some travel may be necessary, both locally and overnight.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, tests, implements, and supports information technology solutions to meet operational and clinical needs.
  • Responsible for delivering project assignments of medium to high complexity, including application design and configuration build.
  • Works closely with customers to document requirements and communicate effectively with customers and peers to implement changes.
  • Supports and maintains day-to-day existing functionality/programs/applications.
  • Performs intermediate system analysis and troubleshooting to implement new functionality/programs/applications.
  • Creates thorough system design and build documentation.
  • Analyzes the functionality of the system and how it fits with operations.
  • Translates high-level business requirements to detailed technical designs/documentation.
  • Collaborates with other analysts, staff, vendors, and leadership.
  • Meets with department heads and executives to identify and prioritize their needs.
  • Leads application management activities for a single functional area to achieve project objectives.
  • Manages product lifecycle management and end user enhancement requests of moderate to high complexity.
  • Assists in identifying barriers to adoption of clinical practice.
  • Facilitates performance improvement for the effective use of information technology.
  • Supports business/clinical operations with clinical and financial end users.
  • Provides on-call coverage after business hours and weekends on a rotational basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; 4 years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in clinical, operational, application support, or implementation.
  • Development experience with applications in a hospital or medical-related industry is required.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting hardware and software.
  • Experience working with project life cycle or project management methodologies is required.
  • Advanced understanding of leading business and technology partners through a structured deployment and/or implementation life cycle and support model.
  • EPIC certification for the area in which you support is required or must be obtained within 4 months of employment.
  • Strong business or clinical acumen.
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and rapport-building skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and adapt to change.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, and ability to troubleshoot.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced technology projects and concepts as they relate to high-level business objectives.
  • Ability to present complex concepts to both IT and non-IT audiences in a concise manner.
