About the position

The IT Equipment Maintenance Technician role at MilliporeSigma involves maintaining and repairing various equipment to ensure operational efficiency and reliability. The technician will work with mechanical and electrical systems, utilizing their skills to troubleshoot and rectify issues with complex instrumentation. This position is essential for supporting internal and external customers, ensuring high standards of service and compliance with safety and quality regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect instruments to determine necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and rectify problems with complex instrumentation.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and calibration on instruments as needed.
  • Manage and provide accurate completion of Work Orders and related documentation.
  • Complete necessary paperwork within Customer Relationship Management and ERP systems, including calibration certificates and service reports.
  • Provide customers with documentation of work completed, including Service Reports and Instrument Calibration and Performance Reports.
  • Interact professionally with customers and internal support groups to ensure total customer satisfaction.
  • Train less experienced technicians as needed.
  • Comply with all MilliporeSigma safety and quality regulations.
  • Occasional travel within the United States for service or training may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent instrumentation/electronics background preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience using standard Windows-based computer applications (Microsoft Office suite, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce).
  • 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced, collaborative business environment.
  • Experience with basic hand, power, and electrical measuring tools.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent instrumentation/electronics background.
  • 1+ years of Life Science/Pharma/Food & Beverage instrumentation experience.
  • 1+ years of field service or field technician experience.
  • Proficient with electronic measuring equipment and basic tools.
  • Aptitude for handling difficult customers and situations.
