About the position

The NBA is seeking a motivated Program Manager to join our IT Events Management team, located in Secaucus, NJ. This role is crucial for ensuring the success of our live events, which are integral to our operations as a global sports and media business. The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of all events within the program, ensuring that each project is on track by monitoring timelines, budgets, deliverables, and key milestones. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in project management, event management, or IT-related roles, and will be inspired to implement program-level process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs across events. In this position, you will facilitate coordination between cross-functional teams, ensuring effective and consistent communication across all events. You will maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through regular updates and feedback, embracing an ‘Agile Ways of Working’ approach to achieve program objectives. The Program Manager will lead internal IT Events Team meetings, develop detailed event plans, track progress, and manage risks. You will also collaborate with stakeholders to gather technology requirements for events and represent IT in planning and status meetings. Additionally, you will coordinate with vendors, review contracts, facilitate purchase orders, and track change orders. Your role will involve assisting in venue and hotel surveys, ensuring that detailed specifications are met, and developing and distributing IT events' schedules. You will manage risks and issues related to IT events, conduct daily status meetings during events, and implement change management processes to handle project scope changes effectively. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Represent IT in events planning and status meetings, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Coordinate with vendors, review contracts, and facilitate purchase orders.
  • Assist in venue and hotel surveys and ensure detailed specifications are met.
  • Develop and distribute IT events' schedules to inform resources about timelines and tasks.
  • Manage risk and issues related to IT events and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct daily status meetings during events and distribute updates to IT leaders.
  • Assist in budget development, cost projections, and post-event budget close-outs.
  • Monitor and track expenses for each event and approve expenditures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, event management, or IT-related roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and event management is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Projects, PowerPoint, Excel, JIRA or other project management software.
