As an IT Communications Network Technician at Arizona Public Service (APS), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our telecommunications and physical security systems. Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain a variety of telecommunications and physical security systems, ensuring they meet high standards for performance and reliability.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair situations, minimizing downtime and maintaining the integrity of systems.
  • Regularly test and inspect all facilities and equipment to identify potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Ensure all systems and equipment are functioning optimally, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of telecommunications and physical security systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT professionals and departments to support the overall network infrastructure and security needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in electronic technology and two (2) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience for IT Communications Network Technician II.
  • Associate degree in electronic technology and seven (7) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience for IT Communications Network Technician III.
  • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications and physical security systems.
  • Strong technical skills with a deep understanding of relevant systems and equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform under pressure during emergency repairs.
  • Meticulous in testing, inspecting, and ensuring all systems are functioning correctly and safely.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and support the broader IT infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of service offerings and customer service principles.
  • Familiarity with various computer software applications, PCs, operating systems, and other computer-related technologies.
  • Ability to install chains and operate various types of snow equipment such as snowcats, snowmobiles, and snowshoes depending upon area of assignment.
  • Previous work experience requiring mechanical aptitude and the safe usage of common hand tools.
  • Familiarity in Drafting or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
  • Experience supervising tower work crews to ensure safe work practices and quality installations.
