The University of Iowa's Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking skilled IT Field Service Engineers to join the Physical Infrastructure workgroup. This team plays a vital role in shaping the technology landscape on campus, focusing on wiring, which is Layer 1 of the OSI Model. The selected candidates will be at the forefront of implementing solutions that support the university's academic, research, and service missions. These positions are classified as specified term appointments as Associate Communication Infrastructure Engineers (PIB1) and are expected to last through January 2027, offering full fringe benefits. The ideal candidates will have experience in the design, analysis, implementation, and administration of voice, data, and video physical infrastructures. They should be able to meet established service delivery standards and customer/user needs. A strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential qualities for success in this role. The responsibilities include the installation of cabling, services, and events on the university campuses, collaborating with in-house staff and student workers. This involves managing multiple medium- to large-scale projects in accordance with industry and university standards. Candidates will apply their knowledge of current and emerging technologies to develop university standards, including adherence to national cabling standards such as EIA/TIA, NEC, NFPA, and BICSI. They will also be responsible for understanding and implementing design documents provided for projects. A valid U.S. driver's license is required, and candidates must meet the University of Iowa's Fleet Safety requirements. This position is not eligible for university sponsorship for employment authorization.
