About the position

The IT Field Services Technician at CRH Americas Materials Inc. is a pivotal role that provides exemplary customer service to an assigned end user base while being responsible for the maintenance and administration of computer works and related computing environments. This includes managing computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. As the face of IT, the technician acts as a liaison between IT and end users, addressing all IT-related needs. The position requires applying developed knowledge of job skills, company policies, and business demands to meet customer expectations effectively. The technician will work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature, requiring judgment, initiative, and specialized technical knowledge to resolve problems and develop recommendations and solutions. The role operates under limited supervision, necessitating a self-starter attitude with the ability to prioritize workload and daily activities. The technician will report to either a Field Services Lead or Field Services Manager. In this role, the technician will serve as the IT liaison to end users, providing both desk-side and remote technical assistance during and after regular business hours, especially during emergencies or in support of special business projects. Responsibilities include maintaining and administering computer works and related computing environments, identifying and resolving technical issues, and providing support for plant process systems. The technician will actively communicate with customers, peers, and management to ensure timely resolution of issues and status updates, assist in managing asset inventory, and contribute to departmental standards. Additionally, the technician will assist in creating and maintaining training guides and knowledge base solutions, support continuous improvement initiatives, evaluate and implement new systems, and establish positive work relationships with co-workers and customers. The role may require travel to other business sites for additional support or training sessions, and the technician will perform reporting and administrative functions as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the IT liaison to end users and provide desk-side and remote technical assistance during and after regular business hours.
  • Maintain and administer computer works and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and research effective solutions.
  • Provide support and assistance for plant process systems including Command, APEX/JWS, Libra Loadout and others as required.
  • Communicate actively with customers, peers, higher-level teams, and management to ensure timely resolution of issues and status updates.
  • Assist in the management of asset inventory.
  • Assist teams in testing and deploying software and patch management.
  • Adhere to departmental standards and ensure appropriate use of information systems.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of training guides and knowledge base solutions.
  • Support the continuous improvement culture of the company and IT department through the identification of potential process improvements and participation on cross-functional/regional teams.
  • Evaluate and implement new systems that help to increase productivity or enhance overall business operations.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with co-workers, leaders, and customers.
  • Travel to other business sites to provide additional support or to attend training sessions.
  • Perform reporting and administrative functions as required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in information technology or equivalent, or 3 years of experience working in a similar IT support role.
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and 11, Office 2016/365, Mobile devices, VPN, and Networking.
  • A+, ITIL Foundation and recent MCP preferred.
  • Greater consideration given to Citrix, ShoreTel, and Command Alkon system experience.
