About the position

The IT Field Services Technician at The 20 is a vital role responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to clients across the nation. This position requires a dedicated individual who can effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues related to computer systems, hardware, software, and applications. The technician will utilize a ticketing system to respond to client requests, analyze problems, isolate issues, and implement effective solutions. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service, as the technician will frequently communicate with clients over the phone and through remote support software. In this role, the technician will be tasked with identifying, analyzing, and resolving a variety of technical issues that may arise in workstations, mobile devices, operating systems, and peripherals. Responsibilities include providing thorough documentation of customer interactions, prioritizing ticket resolution according to standard operating procedures, and meeting key performance indicators. The technician will also handle advanced desktop issues, VPN connectivity, entry-level server support, and hardware troubleshooting. Physical duties are also a significant part of this role, including the installation and maintenance of networking equipment, running cables, and performing repairs on hardware and software. The technician must possess mechanical knowledge to execute these tasks effectively, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for backing up data, testing solutions, and providing recommendations for equipment health. Follow-up with customers post-resolution is also a critical aspect of the job, ensuring that all issues are fully addressed and resolved.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote technical support to clients nationwide.
  • Respond to tickets via a ticketing system and analyze issues.
  • Isolate problems and implement solutions for computer systems, hardware, and software.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve common technical issues in workstations and mobile devices.
  • Provide customer support using remote connection software.
  • Document each customer interaction thoroughly.
  • Prioritize ticketing system flow by following SOPs and KB articles for resolution.
  • Meet or exceed KPI goals for ticket resolution.
  • Troubleshoot advanced desktop issues and VPN connectivity.
  • Support entry-level server issues and hardware problems.
  • Execute all aspects of repair, maintenance, and security for computer systems.
  • Run networking cables and install physical networking equipment.
  • Analyze and investigate problems with hardware and software.
  • Repair, substitute, or replace faulty hardware as necessary.
  • Install, reinstall, or reprogram software as needed.
  • Test and error-check solutions to ensure functionality.
  • Backup data as necessary to restore functionality.
  • Provide recommendations for the general health of the equipment.
  • Provide technical documentation and materials upon request.
  • Follow up with customers after solutions have been implemented.

Requirements

  • Practical knowledge of assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of hardware components.
  • Practical knowledge of Windows OS including installation, recovery, setup, and updating.
  • Knowledge of anti-viral, security, and firewall technologies including installation and setup.
  • Familiarity with major software suites for office use, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Reasonable knowledge of server applications such as Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Troubleshooting skills in operating systems and hardware components.
  • Troubleshooting skills in spyware, anti-viral removal, and spam control.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • A+, Net+, and Sec+ certifications, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with all modern operating systems.
  • Deep understanding of business networking.
  • Deep understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and File Sharing.
  • General understanding of technology related to small-medium businesses.
