About the position

The IT Field Support Specialist 2 is responsible for providing Tier 2 and 3 on-site and remote support for various computer hardware and teleconferencing equipment. This role involves conducting site surveys, analyzing user requirements, preparing specifications for hardware acquisitions, and developing installation schedules. The specialist will also train site personnel, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and support network upgrade projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 and 3 on-site and remote support for computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment.
  • Conduct site surveys and document current site configurations and user requirements.
  • Analyze existing requirements and prepare specifications for hardware acquisitions.
  • Develop hardware installation schedules and prepare drawings documenting configuration changes.
  • Prepare site installation and test reports and train site personnel in the proper use of hardware.
  • Build specialized interconnecting cables.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and test computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment.
  • Install and configure computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment and associated cabling.
  • Maintain government and/or vendor-manufactured fiber optic modems, multiplexers, fiber optic/Ethernet cables, and telephone systems.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for the Connectivity Operations Team, including the use of ticketing systems and documentation.
  • Support network upgrade projects or initiatives and end-user connectivity needs.

Requirements

  • High school/GED with 2-4 years of experience and Security+ Certification, or an Associate's degree in a technical field with 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • One of the following 8570 certifications: A+ CE, NET+ CE, SSCP.
  • Highly skilled in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Well-versed in installing Windows, software, applications, antivirus, and patches.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Effective time and priority management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in working with end-users remotely.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Windows 7 and 10.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory security and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle.
  • Must be available to work an 8-hour shift between 6am-6pm, as determined by management.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
