About the position

The Field Support Technician at Optimus Steel LLC is responsible for providing technical service and maintenance support at the Optimus Mill. This role involves collaborating with various IT teams to ensure the smooth operation of software and systems, developing IT infrastructure, and offering technical assistance for functional and business applications. The technician will also manage infrastructure technologies and support projects related to IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing the necessary IT infrastructure for essential business applications.
  • Responsible for the smooth and reliable operation of software and systems.
  • Develops innovative strategies for new and existing applications, databases, and operating systems.
  • Provides technical assistance to IT teams for functional/business applications.
  • Creates and maintains policies and procedures for network administration and cybersecurity plans.
  • Defines, submits, and tracks infrastructure procurement requests.
  • Controls costs and budgets regarding IT infrastructure and operations systems.
  • Offers support and technical guidance on project test planning and execution.
  • Implements, administers, and supports infrastructure solutions based on Microsoft, SAP, VMware, and CISCO platforms.
  • Evaluates and selects ITSM and SDLC tools and methodologies for service management capabilities.
  • Conducts regular PC specification reviews to meet business needs.
  • Collaborates with teams to troubleshoot and determine risk analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Performs daily data backup maintenance and coordinates remote backup processes.
  • Activates Level 2 and 3 support for infrastructure and applications as needed.
  • Catalogs databases, networks, storage, servers, directories, and other technology services.
  • Conducts timely meetings with assigned vendors.
  • Plans, designs, and manages infrastructure technologies for corporate data and voice infrastructure.
  • Creates and documents installation and configuration/maintenance procedures.
  • Assists in handling software distributions and updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position or as a leading engineer.
  • Good knowledge of network infrastructure, routers, firewalls, and relevant network protocols, particularly with CISCO technology.
  • Experience with MS Office 365, database management, Azure administration, and VMware administration.
  • In-depth understanding of the ITIL framework, its deployment, and management, including CMDB.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues across various technology capabilities such as compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, and cloud.
  • Fluent in English.
