About the position

The IT Field Technician at RemoteOver.com plays a vital role in delivering exceptional IT services to a diverse clientele, including residents, businesses, and government entities. This position is essential for troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day technical issues related to computers, servers, and networking equipment. The technician will be responsible for both on-site and remote support, ensuring that clients receive timely and effective solutions to their IT challenges. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, strong customer service skills, and the ability to document processes accurately. The technician will report directly to the IT Manager and will be expected to work collaboratively with other team members to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. In this position, the technician will engage in a variety of tasks, including troubleshooting computer and network issues, performing upgrades, and providing support for managed service clients. The technician will also assist in the creation of operational processes, contribute to project planning and implementation, and maintain documentation of all support activities. A high level of time management is crucial, as the technician must respond promptly to client requests and issues. The work environment is primarily on-site at customer locations, with some flexibility for remote work, making it essential for the technician to be adaptable and responsive to varying client needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of IT systems, including experience with cloud environments, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, as they will be representing RemoteOver.com in various client settings. This position is temporary with a potential for full-time employment after a training period, and it offers a competitive hourly wage starting at $16.00.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of computer, server, and network issues at client locations.
  • Perform PC and network troubleshooting and upgrades.
  • Provide network support and troubleshoot routers, switches, VLANs, DHCP, and DNS issues.
  • Identify, pull, and terminate ethernet cables and install proper support structures.
  • Assist in the creation of processes and procedures for client network operations.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of multiple projects.
  • Install and configure hardware and software as needed.
  • Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process.
  • Run diagnostics on PCs or other devices to determine issues and potential fixes.
  • Install operating systems and apply updates on Windows or Apple computers.
  • Upgrade components of aging systems and maintain or repair equipment.
  • Provide support to cloud environments, including Azure and AWS.
  • Respond to IT disaster recovery needs and remediation for viruses, ransomware, and malware.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of computers, networks, and cybersecurity.
  • 3-5 years of Small to Medium size Businesses (SMB) tech support experience required.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ Certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with IT support for desktop and device support, including Windows 10/11 and previous versions.
  • Knowledge of physical and virtual servers, printers, scanners, and mobile devices.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of network experience, including TCP/IP troubleshooting and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and remediation techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology and software.
  • Experience in documenting processes and fixes in a knowledge base.
