About the position

The IT Finance and HR Planning Analyst Intern position at FirstEnergy offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis within the IT department. Interns will actively contribute to the team's work, receiving on-the-job training and mentorship throughout a 14-week full-time paid internship. The role focuses on understanding and supporting the financial aspects of IT operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support planning of IT forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis reporting process for the >$200M annual IT budget
• Utilizing various financial systems to extract and manipulate data to create meaningful financial reports
• Assist with month-end financial reporting and variance analysis
• Learn components of planning and reporting processes including analyzing data, interpreting results, and assisting clients with reporting of information
• Understand strategy behind investigating and correcting any financial inaccuracies within cost collectors or general ledger accounts
• Reinforce and support tasks associated with cost collector lifecycle
• Learn accounting concepts (accruals, journals and amortizations) and accounting treatment (tax, capital or expense, etc.) of technology solutions
• Assisting with various ad-hoc reporting requests
• Understand headcount reconciliation process utilizing organization chart data
• Updating resource information with appropriate budget salary and overhead data
• Demonstrate professionalism while providing customer service to IT leadership
• Collaborate with other departments of IT, accounting and finance

Requirements

• Currently enrolled, full time, in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college focusing on Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
• Class Standing - Rising
