About the position

MileOne Autogroup is seeking a Hardware Technician to provide on-site and phone support for hardware and software issues across dealerships in the Maryland area. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining computer and VOIP phone equipment, as well as performing diagnostics and repairs on various hardware and software systems. The technician will work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, with some evening and weekend work required.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure computer and VOIP phone equipment, including site preparation.
  • Install and configure network and printer devices.
  • Perform diagnostics on local and networked printers.
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and ongoing support for PC and laptop hardware.
  • Install Windows 11 Operating system and various software applications.
  • Provide ongoing support for software including Apple OS, Windows 10, Unix, and Linux.
  • Assist in managing administrative tasks such as physical inventory of hardware and software license compliance.
  • Support end users of Cisco VOIP phones and telepresence.
  • Inspect, identify, and repair cable drops using toner and cable testers.
  • Troubleshoot fax machines and overhead music systems.
  • Patch drops into switch ports and swap network switches as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of MDF and IDF spaces.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hardware field service experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of hardware products and software capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management and Microsoft Windows networking.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP and IP addressing.
  • Knowledge of Internet protocols and access methods.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work on call shifts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior automotive dealership experience.
  • Cisco VOIP experience.
  • Experience with low voltage telecom wiring.
  • Certifications such as A+, Net+, and other hardware certifications.
