About the position

As an IT Help Desk I, you will provide comprehensive technical support and guidance to users, ensuring the smooth operation of hardware and software systems. This role involves troubleshooting issues, setting up new machines, and maintaining system availability for critical business functions. You will also be responsible for providing customer support both onsite and remotely, while adhering to safety and legal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical, functional, and application guidance and support for users.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for PCs, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Install and support operating systems and applications.
  • Ensure proper setup and configuration of new machines as needed.
  • Maintain system availability of critical and non-essential business systems.
  • Provide customer support through onsite presence and remote assistance.
  • Monitor support requests to identify larger scale issues.
  • Inform supervisor of any issues beyond the technician's scope promptly.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and prevention protocols.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and proficiency.
  • Review current developments and technical literature related to the job.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by the technician.

Requirements

  • CompTIA A+ Certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technology field.
  • Two years of experience in the field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical skills and customer orientation.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentations.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
  • Experience with complex systems, preferably in an educational environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) and other educational software.
