About the position

The IT Help Desk II technician plays a crucial role in supporting the IT department by maintaining network infrastructure, ensuring security, and monitoring performance. This position is essential for the smooth operation of computer systems, enabling end users to effectively complete their tasks. The technician will also be responsible for recommending and implementing network policies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with IT standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work scheduled hours and any additional hours deemed necessary by leadership.
  • Ensure that systems residing on the network are maintained and secure.
  • Set up, configure, and support the Rosecrance internal and/or external networks.
  • Develop and maintain all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues and create and maintain a disaster recovery plan.
  • Monitor all services that reside on the network.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
  • Proactively expand job responsibilities, propose improvements, and collaborate with team members to generate ideas and enhance processes.
  • Perform maintenance on Cisco products and utilize a strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network monitoring, and trending tools.
  • Recommend upgrades, patches, network applications and equipment.
  • Administer and maintain network firewall systems and devices.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations.
  • Audit network log files of network use.
  • Maintain documentation of all network systems utilization and deployments.
  • Maintain information technology equipment including servers, PCs, printers, telecommunications, etc.
  • Maintain LAN/WAN data communication equipment.
  • Educate employees on the proper use of information technology resources.
  • Monitor and maintain physical and virtual information technology security.
  • Monitor information technology license compliance and report potential violations to leadership.
  • Serve as a member of the team, and participate in all team meetings, duties and activities as assigned.
  • Exhibit actions and make decisions that align with the Rosecrance Code of Conduct and within the framework of the law.
  • Perform all responsibilities in compliance with the mission, vision, values, and expectations of Rosecrance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in the IT industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in network support or in a related area.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of complex instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Proven track record working with data and telecommunications equipment.
  • Experience with WAN and LAN technologies and protocols, including OSPF, RIP, BGP, HSRP, VPN, switching, trunking, VLAN, NAT, PAT, ACL, SNMP as well as T1, T3, DSL, ISDN, dial backups, leased lines and structured cabling.
  • Experience with general servers including but not limited to VMware, MS Exchange, and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Cisco PIX firewalls, IDS, and VPN products, including the installation of network cables across various racks and the setup of switches, routers, and other networking equipment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with leadership, coworkers, and all stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
