About the position

Talen Energy is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Senior or Mid-level) to implement technical solutions that meet business requirements while adhering to best practices and engineering standards. The role involves analyzing and resolving complex issues related to cloud infrastructure, system software, storage management, and more, while also implementing IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions in both private and public cloud environments. The engineer will monitor system performance, provide status reports, and collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Review proposed designs and architectures, identifying risks and providing remediation recommendations.
• Deploy and maintain hyperconverged systems and solutions in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Manage and support Windows, Linux, AWS, and VMware infrastructure.
• Administer and support the backup and recovery infrastructure.
• Administer and manage database systems ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
• Develop support plans with key IT stakeholders.
• Manage services, incidents, and changes through request ticket management.
• Provide on-call and after-hours support to address incidents and maintain infrastructure.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to analyze requirements and design technical solutions.
• Conduct advanced research on new technologies and techniques, providing recommendations and roadmaps for implementation.
• Mentor and develop junior-level infrastructure engineers.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
• 5+ years of Information Technology experience (Required)
• 2+ years of public and private cloud engineering experience (Required)
• Strong experience with Linux and AWS (Required)
• Database Management Experience is a Huge Bonus

• Solid understanding of information systems infrastructure and application capabilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot, research, and solve technically challenging problems.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Experience collaboratively analyzing requirements, designing, and implementing technical solutions across both private and public cloud technology spectrums.
