About the position

The City of Fort Worth is seeking an Information Security Analyst Intern to join its IT Solutions' Information Security department. This part-time position is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in a formal course of study related to information security or a similar field. The intern will work under the supervision of the Sr. Information Security Manager and will be responsible for assisting in various tasks that are crucial for maintaining the security posture of the city’s IT infrastructure. The intern will engage in proactive monitoring and evaluation of security policies, provide end-user support for security-related applications, and analyze key performance indicators to report on the effectiveness of security measures. Additionally, the intern will be involved in writing documentation such as work instructions and policies, which are essential for maintaining compliance and operational efficiency within the department. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of information security while contributing to the safety and security of the city’s digital assets. The working environment is primarily office-related, and the intern will have the chance to learn from experienced professionals in the field. The position is part-time, with a maximum of 19 hours per week, and offers flexible working hours that can be arranged with the supervisor. Responsibilities

  • Assist in proactively monitoring and evaluating security policies.
  • Provide end-user support for security-related applications.
  • Analyze and report key performance indicators related to information security.
  • Write documentation such as work instructions and policies.
  • Learn to develop and build strong customer relations with city departments and external agencies.
  • Troubleshoot end-user issues with security-related applications.
  • Perform entry-level security analyst tasks such as vulnerability scans and trouble ticket remediation.
  • Assist in the investigation of security issues related to the assigned division.
  • Support Cybersecurity Analysts in developing and writing policies and work instructions.
  • Analyze and report key metrics information.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a formal course of study related to information security or a similar field.
  • High School, Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field of study.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check for CJIS.

  • Interest or knowledge of computers and operating systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical topics clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Interest in working with public agencies in the IT Security related field.
