The System Engineer II IT Services at Windstream Communications is a pivotal role responsible for the administration, support, and enhancement of multiple enterprise platform applications. This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility while engaging in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. The engineer will be tasked with gathering problem examples to work from, addressing ad hoc requests, and resolving urgent production technical issues as they arise. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage interruptions to ongoing projects effectively. In this position, the engineer will utilize their technical expertise to support various applications and ensure their optimal performance. The role demands strong communication skills, particularly within the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) industry, and a solid understanding of telephony IP protocols such as SIP, RTP, TFTP, LDAP, and DHCP. Familiarity with IP networking and trace applications like Wireshark is essential, as is experience with Linux operating systems and VMware environments. The engineer will also work within a DevOps framework, utilizing Azure DevOps and automation technologies like SALT Stack or Cloud Init, which are considered advantageous. The System Engineer II will have the opportunity for career development, potentially advancing to roles such as Senior System Engineer or Technical Manager.
