About the position

The IT Infrastructure Bureau Chief is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for the administrative and operational functions of the Health Care Authority's IT department. This role involves overseeing a team of IT professionals, managing the network and server infrastructure, and ensuring the effective delivery of IT services to support the agency's mission of providing high-quality health care services to New Mexico residents.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of End User Support technicians, Network Administrators, and Systems Administrators.
  • Plan and implement future infrastructure needs and improvements for the Department.
  • Ensure that IT infrastructure is properly managed, maintained, documented, and supported by the appropriate staffing levels with the applicable skill sets.
  • Oversee the budget and procurement of the IT infrastructure needs.
  • Provide technical resources for the development of the Department’s disaster recovery plan and other supporting documents.
  • Maintain security of IT assets, including physical, remote, and IT hardware/software/services.
  • Handle administrative matters such as time management, recruitment, user onboarding/offboarding, and staffing coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or a similar technical degree.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Applications Development, IT Architecture, Data Management, Network Administration, Project Management, IT Security/Compliance, or Systems Administration.
  • At least four (4) years of experience leading an IT team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Familiarity with budget management and procurement processes.
